Mr. Kalinka enjoys hiking, fishing, backpacking, snow-boarding,
mountain biking, rafting, reading, writing, roller-blading, dancing,
talking, poetry, photography, graphic design, walking, golf, and
many other activities.
He has visited many countries and places that give him direct inspiration
noted in his work. Among these places are: England, France, Germany,
Luxembourg, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands,
Mexico, Canada, and of course, the Majestic USA. The people that
he meets during these adventures are not forgotten as we leave alittle
bit of each other behind to learn and reflect. Friends leave footprints
in your heart and those footprints are entwined within his poetry.
The treehouse in the slide photo was, in his teen years, a place
of meditation and dreamy thoughts while discovering Mother Nature's
glory on a 7 1/2 acre plot. This treehouse is where some of the
poetry originated... pre-production if you will... manifesting in
his mind over decades until finally moving toward book completion
in 2005.
The qualitative memories embedded in his subconscious from his travels,
seeing his family, and visiting people can be seen as you visualize
the photography and read his words... but of course, you will have
different interpretations of both media. His quest is best described
when you meet him... a being who exemplifies a zest for life, compassion,
creative passion, honesty, and integrity. Recently, he won the the
2005 International Library of Poetry's Editor's Choice Award for
