Q: What first got you interested in Poetry?
A: It is not
what but who got me interested in poetry. That would be my Mother
and Father reading classical verses like Mother Goose and the Dr.
Seuss Series as a child.
Q: When did
you start writing poetry?
A: We swim
in a poetry ocean since Birth so I believe we all have this intrinsic
quality since conception. But actually writing poetry with pen on
paper
if I remember correctly that would be in middle school.
Q: Of all the
poems you have written
do you have a favorite?
A: I love my
family and friends so I love each poem like them
each poem
has a unique personality and intrinsic quality
so I do not
have a favorite one.
Q: Who are
your favorite poets?
A: Dr. Seuss,
E.E. Cummings, Ralph W. Emerson, Walt Whitman, John Ashbury, Robert
Frost, William Blake, Allen Ginsberg, William Carlos Williams, and
W.B. Yeats to name a few. Each poet has their special style,
rythym, and talent. I enjoy reading their works over and over.
I also enjoy reading and speaking modern day or past poet's work
when i get the chance.
Q: Do you worry
more about what a poem says or how it says it?
A: Both. My
poetry originates from my Heart and deep within an endless stream
of words. Each piece has subterranean levels that I perceive
to have a specific meaning that I want to convey; however, I know
that each is also open to interpretations of others. Most
people who read my poems or hear my readings say, thats
deep. Their words compliment who I am
a deep being.
I just hope that as they read or hear my poems, I can take them
on a journey to where I swim.
Q: Where do
you get ideas for poems?
A: Most of
my poem ideas originate from everyday life experiences and travels.
When caught in a moment, I usually meditate; close my
eyes for a little bit to envision, and then write. Sometimes
I go back to moments from photos and recapture how I
felt, the time of day, where I was, and why I was thinking a particular
way; but most of the time I write in the now
exposing Truth
right before my eyes and reflecting. Poems are everywhere!
